I'm not so sure as to Valve games getting released on Mac anytime soon.
AFAIK, Valve games run the DirectX rendering engine (Im talking about Source), which is only natively supported on PCs

Besides that, if you want a Mac capable of actually playing one of the newer, better games on the Steam market, be ready to fork over alot of money, as they arent cheap.

You dont need a mac computer to run the mac os, if you got an intel processor you should be fine
