Hi everyone,
I've started a website offering some servers for CS and CS:S and I've been receiving some requests to sponsor teams, but I don't really know if it is worth it.
I have some space and resource left on one of my servers and I wouldn't mind giving them a server, but what do you look at when choosing teams to sponsor?
Any recommendation would be appreciated!
JP

- A clan with atleast 5 members.
- An homepage with .com, .net, or .country(.dk, .de, .nl etc)
To make a commercial.
- A mIRC channel.
- All members in same country. That's for LAN parties.
- Atleast 16 years or older.

And do you usually see a direct income (more visitors, new clients, etc)?

I have chosen not to sponsor because (IMO) you don't see any income or new sales. I know this from a fact because many of my paying customers already put my banner/links on their site, and I haven't gotten any sign ups off it. The majority have been by word of mouth.

well... paying costumers have no need to spread the word. they're payin.. theres no obligation or incentive for them to try. On the other hand someone that's being sponsored would take it more seriously and try harder to get you sales. Although that's somethin that would need to be discussed as a requirement for sponsorship as well.

Actually sponsorships are useful especially in the professional gaming devision.
They actually keep to their words, find teams that are at least main proof. and have a site, with over 50 idlers in irc.

sponsorships rarely translate into a significant amount of revenue, stay away unless its a really well recognized team, but catch 22, 99% of those are already sponsored. most clans looking for sponsorship are kids begging for handout.

to add on to what todd said, too many sponcerships may even lead to a loss of revenue. if you going to sponcer make sure they are registered in a league and are avtive in it
