SRCDS in Windows 7
#1
I run an in house server for testing purposes. I just installed Windows 7 on the server after having a hard drive failure. ( Not wanting to dig up my old copy of Windows XP Rolleyes ) I set everything up the way it was supposed to be, installed all the games I run on it, then I went to start it up. I goto run> then enter the params in, then click run. Nothing happened. So I tried running GUI. Nothing happened there either. So my only guess so far is that Windows 7 cannot handle SRCDS? If anyone has a fix or can confirm this, it would be much appreciated. ^_^

Thanks,

I suppose it was dumb trying a new OS anyways. ^_^ I'll go stick with what I know for now, until srcds updates to address this issue, probably an incompatibility issue.

Thanks though. Smile

Oh, wow! I just found that by installing steam and running the dedicated server through steam under the tools tab works! Everything looks normal performance wise as well. ( Compared to Windows XP )

Thought I would mention it. Wink

Just to be clearer about this, it ran Counter-Strike Source and Half-Life 2 Deathmatch, I'll boot it up today and install other games and make a list of the ones that work if they don't all work. ^_^

**Resists urge to explode**

Why are you using Windows 7 for a server OS? I have nothing against it (im typing this on win 7 on my laptop atm) its just not anywhere close to being a server OS.

Although for games, It runs TF2 just aswell (if not marginally better) than vista did.
