Ok, serious question here:

What would be more useful, a windows GUI installer or a perl wizard style installer? Im just thinking there that most of people who would benefit from this are those who want to run a home server on a typical old PC running XP or something. I know theres plenty of tools that do this currently but I could definately offer the mods and stuff. I would just include for example sourcemod in a zip file pre-configured to some extent and then a wizard which would setup admins easily and such.

I'ds certainly do-able, although ive only really worked with TF2 and garrysmod. Only admin mods i am familiar with are Sourcemod, ULX (the most popular garrysmod one) and i did use Beetlesmod at some point but not anymore.

Well, my thinking was that those installing on linux already have some idea what they doing. Many of the people using this tool simply wouldn't bother otherwise. I'm not trying to be condescending in any way but those setting up windows servers are far less likely to know what they are doing than those doing it under linux.

im going to have to disagree with that statement, there are quite a few people here who no what they're doing and who run windows. i feel it just comes down to preference in os. i use windows because i am more comfortable with it. if i had some time with linux im sure i could get used to it

I agree if someone is going to setup SRCDS under linux they should already have an idea about how to use linux first. Also srcds on linux is much easyer to setup I find because you are berly ever going to get an error and if you do normally its just one of those unlucky things or you have done it

I didn't mean windows users are dumb, not at all (im typing this on Vista 64bit).

Although what i would say is that alot of server apps are easier to setup an config linux due to the nature of the OS, such as apache (web server), MySQL and FTP. These programs were originally written for linux and ported to windows. Hence they are much easier to work with on linux. But i am talking about srcds specifically, there will be more people looking to setup windows servers and unsure what they are doing than those looking to setup on linux and unsure what they are doing.
