Automatic SRCDS installer

Hey guys.

Do you think there is a want/need for this? Im starting to learn perl and i thought that a total, all-in-one installer might be a neat little project. I myself don't have a need for it, i just thought it would be a good practical thing to make which others might find useful.

Any opinions?

Personally, there is about 3 or so of these out there, and I think they all look and do the same things. However, I still prefer the hldsupdatetool

Now, if there was a way that you could install all the mods for the game (Sourcemod, Metamod, Mattie), plugins for the mods (WCS, RPG), and configure the whole server from 1 setup GUI, that would be impressive.

Well, that is actually do-able. A bit of work yes but certainly possible. All you would really need to do would be to put a tar of each in the file, then figure someway to have people enter their info, i.e. enter their STEAM ID for admin mods.

Remember, im talking about a perl command line thing. that would just have a small number of prompts, not really a GUI. But you get the idea.

theres one that exists to date that does that, believe it was called counterstrike evolution source.... also i think they charge for it now

if this supports all games then it could be handy but there are all-ready ones out there

If u were able to install mods like BeaverBeliever said then that would be fracking amazing

I'm planning to release it in marth. But I'm not sure, I can't fix my problem. I've been on several forums, nobody could help so far. I will go 2 rounds more, then try something else

I'll have to make the program download the HldsUpdateTool.exe

I just can't make it download it

why not include it in the base file of the program and just have it exicute the program?

I've tried that, I didn't like it. And now as an alternative, while I'm fixing the other, I'd use it. But I forgot them :/

And when I execute it, it will install into the current folder. I've set the program to c:/srcds

you should maybe make it so it creates its own folder, like almost make hldsupdate tool extract to C:/SRCDServer

Well the problem with including it in the main folder, with the real .exe file, I've made. Is that, when I execute it, it will be located in the current directory, where the .exe file is. But then I can't delete the HldsUpdateTool.exe.

Then I'll have to update it agian, but I can't. Since there's two of those.. :/

But I've seen another sulotion, I'm going to test it later, I'd just hope it works
