The unsolvable problem
#1
I have read everywhere possible about this problem and have found similar problems but nothing ishelpin me. I am running a CSS dedicated server and i am behind a linksys WRT54G Version 2 router. I have made a static ip 192.168.1.80 and have enabled it on DMZ. I have degraded and upgraded my firmwire and done everything else possible. But in the end no one on the internet can connect to my server. only me if i add the internal static ip to favs. i give friends external ip but they can not find it. sv_lan is 0, -ip does not work because i am behind a router, and anything else has not seemed to work. Please ponit me to a thread or give me some advice to get around my dang router. PLEASE!!!! hell i've even talked to linksys about it. Thank you.

So you dmz your internal ip that the server is on, and still after that no one can connect to your server?

try adding your external ip to the command line instead of your internal ip. then restart.

if that still doesn't work, try posting your ip (external) and your server rules (server.cfg, autoexec.cfg, etc.).

if i use my external i can not allocate the ded server blah blah blah.
external:24.231.166.210
internal:192.168.1.101

as for my server.cfg i do not have one, i just use my mani_server.cfg.
also it says it adds the masters servers and is successful connecting to steam servers.
sv_lan is 0, sv_region is 0

if you don't have a server.cfg, how are you executing your mani_server.cfg? autoexec.cfg?

what os is the server running on? win xp? using sp2? any firewalls, etc. on the server?

and just so that everything is clear; your srcds is on it's own box, you play on it from another box, and nothing else is running on the box with your srcds except srcds, and basic os apps?

its is running on xp

right now i am checking and running it on the same box. but i am planning on changing boxes soon. i should still be able to see it somewhere though no? gametiger or something. and all my friends i have told the external ip too can not find it. Now is there any reason i play and run the srcds on a different box or is it just for better performance.

i am running it through a file i told to run the .cfg i forgot whcih file but ill find it.

if me mani_server.cfg starts up and i have all that shit in there, do i need a server.cfg? i would not think so.

it would actually make better sense to run the contents of the mani_server.cfg within the server.cfg, then the other way around. but thats besides the point right now. any firewalls on your box? service pack 2?

and better to run it on a different box then what you are playing on. That may be why you are getting the "couldn't allocate..." error when trying to set your +ip to your external ip.

i have a windows firewall but i can't even turn it on. it gives me some error when trying to start it. I have mcafee virus scan but i doubt that gets in the way. and i have turned off my router firewall all together.

as of right now i should be able to see the server on gametiger or something wether i run and play on the same box or not, no?
