Hello!

I'm currently hosting a Left 4 Dead versus server. I've been trying to fix so that players can contact me or anyone else in an IRC channel, so I found IRC Relay that is a sourcemod plugin. It worked, sort of... but it's so buggy I removed it today - there has to be a better solution!

So I was thinking, what if I install a java IRC client and point the motd.txt to it, so people could just chat in there if necessary? I knew it was a long shot and I suspected it wouldn't work, the in-game browser doesn't support java applets.

So now I got one last idea and that is to have a link on the website the motd.txt is pointing to and when they click it in-game, their original browser should pop up (the game will lose focus of course... anyone got any better idea than this - bring it on Toungue). I'm pretty sure I've seen a similar thing in another server's motd where it brought up my original browser, I could have remembered it wrong though :/.

Well, if someone got a better idea how to make the players able to contact admins outside the game, please enlighten me Smile.

Thanks in advance!

HTML shoutbox in the MOTD?

What do you mean by that?

I programmed a PHP script and made a small form where the player could enter a text and send it to an IRC channel, however it turns out you can't even use textboxes properly in-game - it does show but you can't edit it. So I've just made a button they can click on. It would have been nicer if they could have written the reason why they need an administrator's attention.

Hmm :/.

I'm not so sure it would work, I've already tried textboxes in the in-game browser and you can't edit them.

EDIT: Is it possible it's related to L4D? Hmm..
