L4D versus/normal 4/8 players

Hi everybody, has anybody resolve this thing?

I ve got "director_no_human_zombies 0" in server.cfg and in mapcycle.txt i have only maps with "*_vs_*" in name, but it doesn't work.

HLSW tells me that server has 4/8 players, but if i try to join server, i am getting alert that server is full... Sad

I did the above and it seems ok...has 8 joinable slots

How is it possible with this settings to change(not manualy, automaticaly after map finished) map to "l4d_airport01_greenhouse".

When you are trying to join the server, is the server running a versus or campain mode?

How can i get this? I think that problem is in NON-VS map, because if there is map with vs in map name, 8 players can join the game.

I had a hell of time with L4D servers..

Till I found out that the servers are controlled buy the lobby!

Ok, so a lot of people misunderstand the idea of how the lobby works.

I see this a lot: "How can I connect to my server's lobby."

Here is the misconception. Servers don't host lobbies. Basically, when you go and create a lobby, you are setting something up in the steam cloud. I have no idea 'how' it works, but it does (usually).

Until you actually 'start' the game, it won't even be connected to any server. This is why when you just start a lobby, then a game, it takes time to search for dedicated servers.

Understanding this misconception should help in understanding how the sv_search_key "" command works. I won't go into the tech details of how to set it up, LordBhorak has done a great job of that already. But here is the basic way to look at the process.

You set up your dedicated server with the sv_search_key "yourkey" command included in the server.cfg file (without any of the steamgroup commands).

You start up L4D.
Go to console, enter sv_search_key yourkey (without quotes)
Select Play Campaign or Play Versus
Select Play with Friends (if you're trying to get all your friends into the lobby first before adding more people)
Create Lobby
Select type (Campaign or Versus)
Set options, Create Lobby
Have your friends join
select Permissions, set to Public Game
Wait for others to join, usually this goes fast, sometimes it takes a few minutes.
Once it's full, hit start game.

These are the steps I have used, it works fine for me. Both Campaign and Versus. It doesn't matter how I have my server set up, it will run whatever map I have set up in the lobby.

THX for response, but I like to know how is it posible to change map to one which is not in my mapcycle.txt and maplist.txt... I like to run server as public and no only for my friends...

Does anybody know it?

not sure what u mean ?

but if u just start the server it will become part of the steam cloud and the public can use it when they join thur the lobby
