Server FPS Questions + More

CentOS 5.2 64 Bit

I set my FPS to 333 and tickrate to 66. In console I typed stats and it was saying 125FPS. Do I have to change something? I was reading some threads on 1000FPS and kernel but wasnt sure if I had to do that.

I installed linux on my comp for a test before I did it on my dedicated. I don't know if is my hardware or not. If you could not tell, i'm new to linux, so if I have to run commands please explain thoroughly.

250GB

Also when I go to where I installed srcds, theres all these X with a Pencil symbols on folders and files. I tried some commands but didnt work till I chmod 777 but its a pain because I only know how to do that particular file/director. If its a directory it would just let me inside but then theres more flags inside. Can someone tell me how to change my permissions for all subfolders in the main directory??

Thanks for your help.

I was reading the linux how to 1000FPS Kernel thread and got to the cp -R /boot/config-2.6.9-42.0.8.ELsmp .config part and replaced the config to my which is config-2.6.18-92.1.18.el5xen and then added the .config to the end. After adding .config and pressing enter it says do I want to overwrite? I type yes, is that right? Next I typed make menuconfig and enter to have all these errors come up. I do not see a GUI Menu come up.... Now I read in the thread that I have to ncurses-devel and ncurses which I downloaded but then it says dependencies on libtinfo.5.so

Can someone help me out?

config-2.6.18-92.1.18.el5xen .config

Regarding libtinfo

Do a...

yum list | grep libtinfo

See what comes up, find the name there in the list.

then yum install libtinfo.whatever
