Tickrate help
#1
Hey guys,

Had question about the tickrate.

When I have the -tickrate 100 line set I can never get it to stay stable past 50/50 in net graph 3. What needs to be done to keep it stable? And at 100/100?

client side. try this:
cl_cmdrate 35
cl_updaterate 120

If ya gonna have alot of choke try lowering your cl_updaterate to the number your lowest fps.

server side:
sv_minupdaterate 30
sv_maxupdaterate 120

Ok basically I have figured out that you can not put more then like 4 servers on a machine with tickrate 100 because it just like over takes the cpu if you have more then 4 servers with that setting on a machine. Has anyone tested this out yet? Specs, dual xeon 2.8Ghz with 2gb ram.

what tickrate does is that it caps minimum number of fps ur server will run at. cap fps_max in server.cfg around 100-150 and u'll might be able to fit few more servers

afaik, you can't. If you want to change the tickrate, then you will have to kill and restart your server with the new setting.
