Pentium 4 Processors are single core processors. Dual core processors are usually referred to as dual core or core 2 duo. You also have triple cores and quad cores which have 3 and 4 cores.

Core is just another word for CPU. Since the beginning of processors there has only been one core per processor. Not until the fairly recent release of dual cores has processors had more than 1 core so the processor was just referred to as the Core, processor, or CPU.

P4 is single core.
You might have hyper threading... but that's different then having 2 different cores.

Think of a Processor like your head. Inside your head is the brain, or your core. The part the controls everything.. where your calculations are done. Your head only has 1 brain. Similar the to Pentium 4s only have 1 core. Dual Core's, triple cores, and quad cores are just heads with multiple brains.

Xeon laptops do exist, the are OEM'ed by Clevo.
