Need help! "Couldn't allocate dedicated server UDP port"
#1
I know this is a common error, but I couldn't really find anything that matched my pref. I registered just to get help with this, so please help me!

I wanted to set up a dedicated scrim server for my clan in Counter-Strike Source.

At first I put in the ip that I got from ipconfig in cmd & the server showed up in favorites & pinged, but I could not join, "connection fail after 4 retries", so I tried changing my port in steam launch options, but that didn't work either. My friend tried to add the server, but he couldn't get it to show up at all. He told me to us the ip I got from whatsmyip website or whatever, which I did. After putting in that IP I got the error "Couldn't allocate dedicated server UDP port" and now I'm stuck there.

I'm not using any type of router or anything. I'm directly connected through broadband. I'm also using windows vista if that can help.

Please reply ASAP

PS this is what my target location reads in srcds shortcut

"F:\srcds\srcds.exe F:\SRCDS\srcds.exe -console -game cstrike -tickrate 66 -ip 67.58.87.236 -port 27015 -maxplayers 10 +map de_inferno"

first change back to your localip, that will fix your "Couldn't allocate dedicated server UDP port" error

then you need to configure your router to forward the proper ports.

then you give your buddies your external ip: 67.58.87.236

I don't have a router. I mentioned that in my above post, when I had it to my local ip I wasn't able to connect to the server

Not sure. DSL for all I know from my phone company. I typed in ipconfig and this is what I got for my ipv4 address

172.20.13.215

& this is what I got from the website 67.58.87.236

make sure your firewall is off, and find out more info about your isp.

That doesn't help. I don't have a firewall, besides the windows one.

Is the server local or do you remote access it?

What do you mean by that?

You are installing the SRCDS onto a computer, right? Where is that computer? Is it in your home? Is it the same computer you play games on? Are you renting a Dedicated Server and use Remote Desktop to access it?

Open up a command line and type in: ipconfig /all
and post it all here. Next go to http://whatismyip.org/ and post the IP they give you.

I know you already sorta did this, but give me all the information. Thanks Smile
