Compressed files in http redirect
#1
Hi, is it possible to use bsp files in a compressed ztmp format in http redirect? Some maps are so large that compressing them would be sweet.

If yes, then how to compress bsp files from command line in linux or should I let the server do the job, which is pretty frustrating ... go to server with no maps on the client and then go through all maps to get compressed files from bsp map files.

thanks

Well according to Alfred Reynolds ztmp isn't possible but Gzip should be possible. This is an advanced solution though; it requires some webserver knowledge to know how to serve clients gzipped content by default.

If the webserver is UNIX based (linux/FreeBSD) you can use mod_gzip. Some webservers come with mod_gzip setup by default. some you might have to request it.
