srcds & choke
#1
I have a Win2k3 server with srcds and running surf maps. Every 3-5 min theres a choke and i can't figure out why. Speccs: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.3ghz processor and 2gig dual ram ddr800. 100mbit broadband ping and such is great.

Running 1 server and tried to tweak win2k3 without any luck, server.cfg:
sv_accelerate 5
sv_airaccelerate 150
sv_lan 0
sv_region 3
sv_secure 1
sv_allowupload 1
sv_allowdownload 1
decalfrequency 10
sv_minrate 5000
sv_maxrate 20000
sv_maxupdaterate 66
sv_minupdaterate 33
fps_max 300
mp_timelimit 20
mp_maxrounds 0
mp_fraglimit 0
mp_buytime 1
mp_freezetime 1
decalfrequency 20
mp_friendlyfire 0
mp_forcecamera 0
mp_fadetoblack 0
mp_startmoney 800
mp_c4timer 40
mp_tkpunish 0
mp_hostagepenalty 0
sv_alltalk 0
sv_footsteps 1

I've also tried
sv_unlag 1
sv_maxunlag 1
sv_unlag_debug 0
but that didn't do any diffrence.

Logging is currently off. I've tried to reinstall srcds several times but problem still is there.

Also running srcdsfpsboost.exe
Commandline:
start /high /wait C:\SRCDS\srcds.exe -console -game cstrike +map surf_10x_final -tickrate 66 +maxplayers 32

Do you have plugins installed? Remove everything you don't need to run surf server. Remove even administration plugins. Then if there's no lag/choke you know it's some plugin. Install plugins back one-by-one and you'll find out the culprit.

Do you have other servers which work good? Have you had it working OK before?

Make sure your ISP doesn't do some clever traffic prioritizing or something similar. Some ISPs might not be suitable for game hosting because they have some restrictions / quality of service (QoS) stuff in their network for fair network use. I don't think this is the cause, though.

I'll do a fresh install and try that out. I've got some plugins installed, metamod, sourcemod, cssdm and admin plugin, and some sounds/maps.

Hope this works Wink
