restrict Server to Region x
#1
Hi there,

I am running a few Source servers, and I have them all set to region 5 (Australia). Is there any way of preventing people from overseas connecting.

I ask this since whenever people from, say, Europe join, they have a ping of 450+ and people start to lag.

Signing off,

I am sure that there are Sourcemod plugins that will let you kick high pingers and probably similar things for Mani ect. No way of doing it without that tho that I can think of.

Why not simply set a ping limit?

FIRST OF ALL, IT'S Guwashi's PLUGIN

Here is the original site. This is the first plugin. This is the plugin everybody else based their plugins. It's normal srcds plugin. There's no need for metamod, sourcemod or eventscripts.

See the dates. Guwashi made his plugin years before the other ripoffs. I've used this plugin myself so long that I'm irritated by these rip-offer's claiming that it's their plugin. It's just ripoff.

Use the version that you feel the best, but remember that those script kiddo's didn't invent the plugin even though they try to take all the credit for it. If Guwashi's plugin ever stops working I'll probably write my own country filter plugin rather than use one of these ripoffer's plugins.

There's not a bit of respect in the world nowdays.

Thats why you would use Sourcemod. I should imagine the author would have made it work for all the games.

I use the original Guwashi's Country Filter plugin with CS:S server. The plugin itself is native VSP plugin for srcds. I'm not sure if it's compatible with the new Orange (TF2, new DoD:S) engine, though. I'd think so, but I'm not really sure. You could try it.

It's a rip off. Do you think all those rip-offers accidentally used the same apache style "allow, deny" scheme? They also accidentally used the same cf_* option variables. Rrrright.

You're so naive Derek. You wouldn't know a ripoff even if it said hello to your face.
