TF2 Server help
#1
So I'm very new to linux, I'm talking hours. I am trying to run a tf2 server on my computer which is running Fedora 9. I follow the directions but when it comes to installing hldsupdatetool.bin it does not work. In fact when I type

./hldsupdatetool.bin

is says

-bash: ./hldsupdatetool.bin: cannot execute binary file

I know I am probably doing something stupid with linux but like I said I'm super new Big Grin
Thanks for the help

Have you made the "hldsupdatetool.bin" file executable?

chmod +x hldsupdatetool.bin

Are you sure?
Code:
chmod 644 hldsupdatetool.bin
chmod +x hldsupdatetool.bin
./hldsupdatetool.bin

Are you running a 64-bit edition of fedora? If so, you may need to download a 32-bit compatibility library. I don't know what the package is for fedora, but for ubuntu it's ia32-libs.

Any particular reason for using PPC? Why not a more popular distro like ubuntu, debian, fedora?

Just to tell you that PPC linux versions don't work for running a server i just tried last week and it doesnt work.
The reason why is cause of the hardware it has to be and intel or amd processor PPC's are to old and the hardware is apple's own hardware i believe so don't use a PPC for running a server cause it doesn't work

There server is written for Intel.
PPC will not work.

Truthfully not entirely sure. My girl got a new laptop so I figured I would be a good opportunity for me to learn Linux. Its an Ibook g4 late 2004 i think.

Making it pretty crappy now that I"m looking at it.

BTW I am using Fedora 9 PPC is not a distro
