Can't connect to own server... sometimes
#1
This is weird, here's my story.

When I first set up my server, I could connect to it from the internet tab, with the proper ports forwarded and all worked fine.

Then one day, I couldn't, and had to set it to DMZplus. After that, I could only connect to it from my LAN tab (but other people could get in from the internet tab). Worked fine.

Now, it appears on my LAN tab but I can't connect, it says "failed after 4 retries". But not always, just most of the time. No one else has problems connecting.

Ultimately, I want to be able to access my server, seeing as it's two feet to the left of me.

Know of anything that could be causing me this pain?

Dude, give us some time.
Did the server's local IP change? Are you running HLTV on the server?

Please do not PM me for server related help

Are you running the server between a router? If yes, you will need to set your internal ip 192.168.XXX.XXX to a static ip so that it will not change. Your external ip which people see the server from the internet will remain the same unless you have it changed or something.

Sorry, I thought I might have a reply after two weeks. Sad

I'm pretty sure the local IP did not change, I didn't do anything which would make it. I'm not running HLTV on the server.

Yes, it is behind a router/modem AT&T box. I'm not sure what you are saying about the IP. It had an IP along the lines of 192.168.1.60, with the proper ports forwarded, and that is when it worked fine, it showed up on my internet tab, and I didn't have any trouble. Then for some reason I couldn't connect to it anymore (but others could), until I set it to DMZPlus, which made it so I could connect sometimes, and other times it just failed to connect.
