I have a single server that is running on a 2 x 2.8Ghz Xenon HT (single core) server right now. It has 26 slots. I want to upgrade the server because it has a problem when all the slots are full. It runs on Windows 2003 Ent. Edition x64bit.
I have the choice between getting the following:
2 x Dual Core AMD Opteron 2220; 2.8GHz,2X1MB Cache,1Ghz HyperTransport
or
1 x Quad Core AMD Opteron 2350; 2.0GHz,4X512K Cache,1Ghz HyperTransport
I am thinking since srcds is not multi core aware that the 2.8 Dual cores would do better because the clock speed of a single core is higher than a single core of the Quad 2350. Am I correct?
Also, why can't a 26 slot run at 100tic?
