New to the ADMIN game and have a couple of easy questions

Hello All,
I just set up a CSS server in my basement and am new to the admin role. I have a couple of questions that I am hoping you guys can answer:
1.) How do you get the server to show up on the Steam "Find Server" list? My friend could connect to it by using the connect command in the console, but it wouldn't show up on the server list.

2.) What are some good admin mods out there?

3.) I set the rcon password in the servers config file, but I still cannot run commands. When I type "rcon_password <my password>" and hit enter it doesnt say anything (I assumed I was connected), but then when i try to say "rcon changelevel de_dust2" it tells me that I cannot connect to the server and it tells me the IP address. Is there another value that I have to set in server.cfg or somewhere else? or am I using rcon wrong all together?

Many people on these forums have encountered problems like this. If you do some searching you may be able to fix your problem with the information you find. I started a thread yesterday about this as I've tried everything that was recommended in these forums http://www.srcds.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=747

IMO it's either a windows related problem (perhaps even the windows version of the DS) or it's my router.

You need to have port 27015 (TCP) for rcon actions. If you are connecting to your server via your external (WAN) IP, you'll need to open this port on your router/firewall and forward it appropriately. Otherwise you should connect with your internal (LAN) IP.

As far as admining modifications go, check out sourcemod.com for like Mani plugin, or SAP.

Sorry about the formatt of the post, you yelled at me last time for not including. I am running the server on Mandrake 10.1 with kernel 2.62 I think...

I am still not able to run any rcon commands though, so the admin mods wont do me much good huh? The server is on my LAN and I open up the console and type rcon_password password and then rcon changelevel de_dust and this is what the console shows:
]rcon_password password
]rcon changelevel de_dust
(192.168.2.30:27015) Unable to connect
What should I do?

My server ran Mani Admin Plugin before I even figured out rcon myself .

You have to do rcon_address <ip> first, then rcon_password <password> and *then* you're set!
