Server crashed, now impossible to put it back online, even with clean install !
#1
Hello everyone,

A friend of mine has a server he rents and we recently wanted to create a TF2 dedicated server on it. We downloaded the HLDS Update tool, downloaded the server content, managed to make Mani Admin work on it, and the server was working perfectly until yesterday. We wanted to change the name of the server by modifying the server.cfg file. So we shut down the server, change the name then launch it back. But then, the server wouldn't start and my friend was getting those error messages on his rented server:

Quote:Process entrance point CreateThreadPool cannot be found in the dynamic links library vstdlib.dll

And the other error message:

Quote:Failed to load the launcher DLL:
The specified process is no where to find

Now it is impossible to launch the server back online, even with a clean install of everything. Got any ideas on how to fix that please ? He has a CSS Server with many admin and everything on that server too, and it works perfectly !

He does not rent a game server, it's a simple host server where he can do anything: host a website, host files or a TS server or game server.

Thanks a lot for your time and help !

Regards,

Kruger

PS: I traduced the error messages cause they're in French, otherwise I would've put them here on screenshots.

hello,

We tried that with no success unfortunately Sad

My friend thinks it has something to do with the windows server 2003 he uses, but formating isn't possible since he has a lot of work stuff on the server at the moment. Any other ideas ^^ ?

When u re-downloaded the server, did u delete the "srcds" folder on ur computer?

or download the content in a new folder. try just to download the game, minimal configuration, and try to fire it up.

also, stupid question but, did you try to shut down your computer, disconnect the power for +/- 30 secs, and then reboot it? i had a server which had some wicked problems and it worked fine again after a complete poweroff.

It's a Dedicated Server? Not an FTP host, right?

We tried to redownload the server with the HLDS Update tool, it didn't work, we tried to download it using the Dedicated server in the Steam Tools, and it didn't work either Sad.

I'm not sure about what you mean if it's a dedicated server or a FTP host. All I know is that it's basically à computer with a high bandwith that he rents, he can then install whatever OS he wants on it and administrate for whatever use he wants (hosting a game server, hosting a website, TS server, or just personnal files etc). He has a CSS dedicated server running on it too with Mani Admin installed and it works perfectly. So we are totally lost lol ^^ !

Thanks again for your help guys !

Regards

Kruger

my friend thinks it's because of windows server 2003

And why would your friend think that? Is there a problem with the OS? If so, try reinstalling it?
