HLStatsx Debian Help
#1
I have a problem, I know this might not be the best forum for this question but hlstatsx.com didn't seem to have a forum. I have a debian distribution of linux and want to know how to do the "install required files" part. The tutorial says it uses fedora core 4 and yum and that other distros would use a different distrobution manager. my question is what would debian use and how would I run the commands for debian not fedora. any help would be greatly appreciated

Ty blik for the help, but I ran into a problem. I set the root password for mysqladmin -u root... to the same as my linux root, prob not a good idea I know, so when I try and log into mysql with, mysql -u root -p. I put in my password and it says "connect to server at 'local host' failed error: 'Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: yes)'
any help on how I can reverse this problem would be awesome. also using the "sudo apt-get install <package-name>"
I could not find php, php-mysql, or php-gd. it said that it could not find these packages. im not sure why.

Uhm, dont put the package name inside the <> just plain sudo apt-get install package-name appologies if I made it appear you put it inside <>

Regarding mysql, there musnt be a space between u root and p password. Login with mysql -uroot -pmypassword where mypassword is your password.

Well I tried to login without the spaces and I get the same problem. as far as the sudo apt-get install package... before I didnt put it in the <> and it said that it couldn't find those packages I could get mysql-server & mysql-client, and on a how to I found it said for debian when I install mysql-server it should install mysql & mysqladmin. I also could install httpd but there was about 20 choices so I chose dhttpd. but I am a noob when it comes to linux, and probalbe won't be able to get this to work thatnks blik for your help it was greatly appreciated.

To bad I wanted to get hlstatsx working but oh well not that big a deal.
