TF2 Update -> Server Not Starting?
#1
Exclamation
My TF2 server was running fine up until I ran a steam update on the server install. All of the old config files and other addons (Mani Admin Mod) seem to be intact...

Is there anything else I need to change? It's starting to piss me off, I can't find a reason as to why it won't start.

I unfortunately do not have that kind of access to the server, I use the TCAdmin update tool (..it's what my clan gave me to work with, so...)

Thanks for the reply, but is there anything else that I can do?

do your clan rent out the box the server it hosted on or just the server?

We rent out the box, though we are not allowed desktop access.

I may have to submit a support request on this...

The install of the software that TCAdmin installed was out of date, and then the update seemed to screw it up.

The thing that gets me was that it was working fine before the update, it just gave me the error that the server had a different version of the map then me when the update came out.

if your not allowed desktop access do you have some sort of console?

No, we don't have access to that either.

In your opinion, do you think that it was a problem that is caused by a faulty update?

Or may there be another cause?

One thing that seemed a little off to me was that while I was downloading, the progress percent went waaaaaay over a hundred. I think that when it was done it was at like 340.53 or something.

that can happen some times with the percent stuff thats just a guide(like windows time)
I would say try disabling all plugins and addons and see if that helps
if not get all your configs and start over

Why did you update?
There hasn't been a recent TF2 update.

Please do not PM me for server related help

Well, the TF2 server install was far out of date. When it installed the content to our server it installed it from a repository maintained by the company themselves. I guess that they think that their update tool is enough.

This is the result of the update (I don't think that it's the problem, no content is being downloaded):

Code:
Starting the Steam Update...
****Don't close this window. If you close this window the update will still be executed on the server****

Stopping the game server...
Game server has been stopped.
Checking bootstrapper version ...
Updating Installation
Checking/Installing 'Team Fortress 2 Content' version 47

Checking/Installing 'Team Fortress 2 Materials' version 16

Checking/Installing 'Base Source Shared Materials' version 8

Checking/Installing 'Base Source Shared Models' version 4

Checking/Installing 'Base Source Shared Sounds' version 4

Checking/Installing 'Team Fortress 2 Dedicated Server' version 39

HLDS installation up to date
Starting the game server...
Game server has been started.
The Steam update has completed. You may close this window.
