Counter-Strike Source troubles
#1
I am trying to get a dedicated srcds counter-strike source server to work, but I am having some troubles. I have forwarded all the correct ports, and have set everything up correctly but I cannot get it to show in the master list. Can anyone offer some advice?

can you connect via the server's external IP?

No it is saying the server is not responding. I have also enabled DMZ on the server computer if that helps.

set it to both instead of UDP/TCP. It makes it easier.
Also, I have no idea what they mean by private port...

Make sure you have the latest firmware version on the router. I think on that model there's a firmware checker built in on the left side at the bottom. I can't remember for sure, though.

Stay away from DMZ - it exposes your entire computer.

It's easier to specify "both" on the protocol, but that model only allows you to select either TCP or UDP, not both. Plus, it's geekier to use the correct protocol Big Grin.

My port forwarding settings:

Of course, your IP address will be different, so just ignore mine.

If your OS has a built in firewall, like Windows Firewall, just disable it. Or if you have another firewall on your computer, remove it. The router acts as a firewall anyway and it makes it easier. I will argue with anyone about the previous statements.

Just to double-check... you do have a static IP address set on your server, yes?

Many people use the router's IP as the static DNS server - this is incorrect. Make sure to use the correct DNS servers provided by your ISP. If you don't know how to get them, look around in your router until you find "DNS servers", and enter those. Still no luck, set your computer to automatically obtain an IP, go to command prompt and type ipconfig /all, and grab them there.

If you've done all of these things and it still doesn't work, go out and get a Linkys WRT54G. It's only about $50 at Wally-World, and it works perfectly.

Good luck!
