Servers wont appear in server list -

My CSS servers wont appear in the server window when browsing

They appear in favourites if you add them, or search the ip.

But searching for CSS games in Server Browser fails to show them.

Any idea how to fix this ?

Dont believe that is the issue.

I have 3 CSS servers and 2 TF2 servers.

the 2 TF2 servers show up in the master list, people can connected to my CSS server, i have had upto 10 people in there from SteamFriends/Xfire.

Yet i cannot find the CSS servers in the Steam Master List.

-edit

Also server is hosted in a UK Datacentre, dont have direct router access. I can request ports to be opened, but when i run the servers is says

"Adding to master list x.x.x.x"
"Adding to mast list x.x.x.x"
VAC secure server online

Well you didnt give us that juicy bit of information in your first post. Well do two out of the three CSS servers show up?

Nope, none of the css servers show, only 2 tf2

I use to run 5 css and none of them showed, but tried 2 tf2 and they show fine.

If you get a chance check the master server lists, i cant find it myself.

Thats gotta be annoying. Anway, what happens when you one a single server at a time? Does it show then? Are you designating different ports?

Yes i am, atm only 3 are running as im setting up the other 2 for something special

1 tf2 and 2 css

TF2 shows, but CSS doesnt

Ports are all different, 10 spaces apart.

They are so close together because my university only allows ports 2700/2750. And id like to admin and play my own servers Wink

I meant, try runnning a single CSS server and nothing else on the default port and see what happens.

Ok

BAD NEWS: It worked... Im taking this as bad Wink

Because i have no idea why, the only possible fix i can think of is running all the servers on different IP's. My host does provide unlimited IP's if needed...

Only bad thing is i have no idea howto setup multipled IP's inside MS2003 R2.

If there is another solution, then please :s .... Lemme know Sad

If not, a guide would be handy.

(PS, altho the server did show up, it showed up incredibly slow and was the last one to show up.... Would giving a greater port range difference to the servers possible fix it)

/edit

As a curious question :

Steam master servers. Do they start at your IP and search outwards from the first oct?
Or is ita completely random search patern.

I am not sure about the Steam master server question maybe someone else knows the answer. Try running the servers off closer ports. I run three off of 27015, 16, 17.

really the best thing would be to get multiple ip's. I would set the servers all on default ports with different ip's if possible.

how to add multiple ip's in 2003 server.. just go into the ip configuration screen like your going to set a static ip, and click on advanced. Then you will be able to add all the other ip's. Just make sure the ip's are available for you before you add them Wink

As for how the master server shows servers.. its still kind of a mystery really. I have found different things with very different results every time. I have come to the conclusion, as its random.. and it will never work out in your favor Toungue

Also with seperating the ports. Spreading them out doesn't do anything. As long as the port doesn't conflict with anything else. I typically try to keep it as close to the default as possible. I would use 27015 27016 27017 27018 27019 (if I only had 1 ip anyways)

Hah just found this at the tcadmin's forums. Good explanation of how Steam Servers find servers relative to you.

Quote from LeetServers:
And what makes you think that bobby?[/quote]

Well! I'll tell ya...

Once upon a time the steamlist looked at the last digit of an ip so 69.28.220.1 got seen first before 69.28.220.245. most us us larger GSP's knew this and were able to secure "good ips". After a while all the larger Gsps had populated the server list and the smaller GSP's complained, so Valve changed how servers are listed.

NOW, they are listed this way. you must keep in mind that most home isp's have older ip ranges in the 60.xxx-80.xxx range.

If your game server starts with 69 and your home ip starts with lets say 64, the list fans out in both directions from your home IP. it will start showing game servers 64/62/60/72 first. Thats why you want "good ips" not 200+

Also realize that some home isps start with 24, remember you fan out both ways so a gamer with a 24 home ip will see your 200+ ip pretty easy. They will see the 200+ before they see 69.

IF steam only had lets say 3G servers none of this would be an issue. however, with over 10G servers it is an issue. I myself have a cable and dsl line. My cable line sees almost everthing, my dsl line see about half the servers, seems that the dsl just gets overwhelmed.
