How to install BeetlesMod for a TF2 Dedicated Server ?
#1
Hello !

I can't get the Mani Admin to work with the TF2 Dedicated Server. So I tried to install the BeetlesMod one which seems to be an alteranative mod for kicking, banning, managing a servir if I'm correct. However, after I copy the files (I don't modify anything at this point), the server doesn't launch (before the install it does).

So I was wondering, does anyone know a tutorial on how to install it? I mean I use the one on the website of the mod but it doesn't explain if you have to modify all the CFGs files or not, so I'm a bit lost !

Thanks for your help !

You copy everything into the tf folder.
BM is very easy to install and configure. There's only a few files to mess with.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply Could you explain me what I need to configure to get it to start please? The official wiki explains what every CFG file is for but it's a wiki for the CSS version, the TF version is just a beta version and there is no wiki Sad

Check out the forums for more help, but check the defaults.cfg in cfg/beetlesmod/

LOL i think I was lost right from the start ! What I called wiki is this one ! But it's only for CSS !

I just saw THIS ONE which seems more approriate ! Thanks !

I'll try it out and tell you if I got it working !

EDIT: Ok i'm lost lol ! I mean it's all coding etc :s. Is there a way to configure it quickly in a kind of simple/default mode, and then just use the GUI to administrate the server ?

I fail to see the complexity.

Let me but in for a second. I registered just to let this off my chest. Now I know this thread is ages old and I shouldn't be bumping this and blah blah, shut it cause I don't care. I found it on google btw.

First of all, what the guy is trying to say is that instructions for installing Beetlesmod, sourcemod, metamod or any kind of mod is LACKING, epicly, and I dont even use that word.

I work as a PC tech, so I know my way around, I like to think. I've ran game servers before though I don't have much experience in it, but I have my technologically inclined mind on my side, so I decided to run my own TF2 server. How hard could it be?

Well I'm here to tell you and to speak out against people like the guy above me that doesn't either take the time to understand the guys problems or thinks that everyone should be as smart as him. I understand both sides of the spectrum, it's my job to relate to "not so knowledgeable" customers.

So when I say that help for someone new to this is extremely awful, it's the truth.. Every guide I came across is about another game. Nothing is helping when it comes to details about TF2. The guides you do come across either don't tell you everything you need to know, or you just can't understand what's being explained because some other guy who thinks everyone should be as smart as him wrote the damn thing.

So the next time you go to answer someone needing help, try treating them as the person they are and not who you think they should be just because they are in over their head and no where to go for help.

SRCDS and Game Servers in general are very BADLY documented. I actually had a plan in mind about this that I'm going to talk over with the Mod team here before we go public with it.

However, people should try to do a basic search BEFORE posting every minor question. Again, I can't say anything but I have some minor plans in mind for that too.

Forgive my spelling, no firefox here Sad

Worst documentation ever.

Seriously, if you run a linux server and want bm on it - it's a trial by fire.

The guy is great for making the mod, but the readme that is included directs you elsewhere.

When you look up a definition of a word it shouldn't use the word it's trying to define in the definition.

Some of the links posted above for info on how to configure Beetlesmod are no longer available. Can anyone provide new links or any suggestions for a better admin mod for TF2? I am also trying to configure some form of admin tool for the dedicated server I have setup and not having much luck. I can get it installed but the problem I am having is bringing up the admin console. One of the features I would really love to have is the ability to vote on maps and the flexibility to load it up with ease. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
