Server Quit
#1
Hi there!

After my latest serverupdate (today), I get an errormessage, and then the server quits. This is it:

steamclient.dll not found, server communication disabled.
cat: hlds.3361.pid: Filen eller katalogen finns inte
email debug.log to linux@valvesoftware.com

The debug does not say much unfortunately:

----------------------------------------------
CRASH: ons apr 6 18:21:11 CEST 2005
Start Line: ./srcds_i686 -console -game cstrike +map cs_assault -maxplayers 16 -autoupdate -debug
End of Source crash report
----------------------------------------------

I hope you can help me.

Hmm, i would remove your installrecord.blob(or all .blob files) and retry the steam update manually

Hi again!

Thanks for your quick reply.
I removed InstallRecord.blob and then updated again, but I still get the same problem. It seems like it is not a unique problem as Smoke get the same problem.

odd, i don't see steamclient.dll anywhere on my source install..

But smoke was saying he can't connect to the server, yet it appaers online after the update, yours just, quits. did you remove just installrecord.blob? theres another blob file, i think in ~/.steam

I tried the following:

cd ~/.steam
rm ClientRegistry.blob
cd ~/srcds_l
rm InstallRecord.blob

This removed both those blob-files, but another manual update with:

./steam -command update -game "Counter-Strike Source" -dir . -username ******** -password ******** -remember_password

just gave the same result as the previous.

have you tried running the update as root?

BTW, the -username, -password, and the -remember_password arguments are no longer neccessary.

I'm having the same exact problem! We are running 5 Windows servers and 10 linux servers. After the April 5th update, all the Windows servers are running fine but all 10 of the linux servers will not start! I even tried a virgin install on a brand new linux server and I got the same error!!

Strange thing is that steamclient.dll is Windows server file! Linux uses steamclient_i486.so file and not a .dll file! So I have no freaking clue as to why Steam is ask for a .dll file on the linux servers!!

Another quailty steam update I must say... NOT!!!

I hope they release a patch soon cuz we got A LOT of angry CCS subscribers pounding on our doors right now! Maybe I should just send them over to Valve!!

The thing about the .dll files on the Linux boxes ain't a mistake. If I recall correctly, those are used to compare with the files that the gamers have on their client PC (the steamclient.dll file can be found in '..\Valve\Steam' and '..\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\<name>\counter-strike source\bin').
May the Source be with you...

I'm using ldd (GNU libc) 2.2.93 actually
i'll try to install Glibc 2.3.2 and see. But i'm not sure to succeed without making errors.

Hi!

I took Zl-jm:s advice and updated glibc from 2.2.93 to 2.3.2 using the nice application Synaptic. It updated glibc and all packages that depended on that upgrade. Then I started the server, AND IT WORKS.
Forlosa is now up and running.

Thank you very much for your help.
