So what do you suggest I do? Move over to Linux?

it seems to me that windows do not show exact CPU usage. my colegue has E6850 (2cores x3.0G). hi installed srcds and put there 32 bots. both CPU showed max 30% opposite to my 80% on linux. but when hi allocated srcds to one CPU - all became right: 80%. i suspect, that some your server take >80% indeed or even 95% momentary with fps knockdown

navarra,

I really don't understand where your getting with that. Windows and linux will not perform the same way. From what I have heard srcds uses quite a bit more resources on linux. It doesn't have anything to do with windows not showing the correct CPU usage. Other than that though, I honestly don't know what to do with that. In our case we just keep the load on the boxes low enough, to where it doesn't matter.

Right, well I'm asking my hosting company if they can change me over and whether it will cost extra to do so....

As for the server files, is it just a matter of copying them across to linux? Or will I have to download it all again?

hazz,

You will likely have to download them all again. Linux runs completely different than windows. The materials and stuff would probably be the same, but it really wouldn't be worth the hassle of just taking them out.
