SRCDS VS HLDS

I followed the tut on how to install a HLDS server but ended up with SRCDS.

is there a difference in performance?

I looking to run a CS:S [zombie mod] or 66 tick regular server.
From my home pc.
should I just stick with SRCDS?

hlds is for the old half life engine only, you can't run source games (the S in srcds) with hlds.
