Freezing?

I run the following commands:

wget http://www.steampowered.com/download/hldsupdatetool.bin
chmod +x hldsupdatetool.bin
./hldsupdatetool.bin (I accept and it extracts)
chmod +x steam
./steam

After this it stays frozen on "Checking bootstrapper version"

Information on my system is below:

Kernel: 2.6.18-53.el5
Processor: Two Pentium D 2.8GHZ
Memory: 3 GB

I have tried running this as root and as a normal user. Please help me!

I figured out the problem after hours of frustration, after taking a look at dmesg I seen that iptables was blocking it. I posted that if anyone else would have the stupid of a problem like me.
