Static IP Address.

Hi I'm new here and have a problem in setting up my server.
I managed to download SRCDS cleanly and am now onto forwarding my ports, however to do this I need a Static IP. I have read many tutorials on how to do this but am unclear on "which" IP to use. For example if I go to whatismyip.com I get:

79.**.**.***

But if I got to console and type in ipconfig/all I get 192.168.1.2 or something liek that. If I try and use the first IP in a static IP address I cannot connect to the internet, but if I use the second I fear my server is only online on LAN?

I would appreciate any help with this matter.

Have you checked out http://www.portforward.com ?

Your 79.x is your external IP.
The 192.x is your local IP.

What router (if any) do you use?

Use the local IP for IP commands on your server.

Yeah, I know about local IP's etc, I've been struggling with this all day... I use a BT Voyager 2110 Wireless Router.. I'd appreciate any help.

EDIT: I also found something weird this morning when I was online on my laptop and online on my desktop computer, and when I went to whatismyip.com on both, the IP's were the same, is this normal?

No... the router is wireless, but I'm using it wired up . So any help about where I should go from now?
