Unstable FreeBSD 6.1 Gungame/Mani/Metamod/Statsme Server

Hello,

I have been trying to figure this out since I first started running CS:S on this server about 3 weeks ago. I have gotten my server to where it "only" crashes about 10 times a day. I am running Gungame with all the newest: Eventscripts/ESTools, Mani Admin as a Metamod Plugin, and StatsmeMinimum Source as standalone.

Whether running with no mods at all, or all of the mods above, the server constantly crashes. Under some configurations it crashes every time I load it (Mani as Standalone or Statsme as a Metamod plugin).

I am using linux_base-fc4 and have installed everything according to the guide at the top of this forum. If someone could take a look at my crash output I would appreciate it:

I'm thinking I would have more information to go off of if I had a compatible GDB, but I'm not sure where to start with that.

I will say that I have noticed the crashing occurs on player joins/disconnects and map changes only. Also, I have moved high-ping-kicking from Mani Admin to an eventscript and it has cut the crashing in half.

Well since nobody really has an answer for my situation, can I ask a new question:

Does anyone out there have a Gungame server with Mani admin running on FreeBSD 6.1 with an i686 arch?

If so, could you give me the output of your pkg_info command please. Thanks!

Have you tried loading different plugins through different means?

The VDF/VSP interface is buggy, in my opinion. Hacking game.txt is much more stable (at least on FreeBSD, for me). Once I decided to use game.txt instead of the VSP interface to load MetaMod:Source, my server has been much more stable. Mind you, I don't run too many modules though.

I had tried both ways and hadn't seen a difference, stuck with the vdf. When you posted that I decided to switch back and see if it got any better. I let it run for a day starting from gameinfo.txt and it crashed exactly as many times. Thanks for the suggestion, I wish there was a magic config for this.

It definitely is triggered by a player disconnect event, I can say that after experiencing it a couple dozen times.

Just out of curiousity, how would I load all my modules using gameinfo.txt instead of the the vdfs?

Can I just make a GameBin entry for the path to each bin?

.vdf's are the standard way of loading plugins.

The gameinfo way is just a hacky way that MetaMod used for a while. I think it uses a .vdf now.

Yeah I was not able to load anything other than metamod with gameinfo.txt.

I wish I had control over the OS, I would install a new one. I guess I'm going to have to live with the crashing.
