Running 2 linux dedicated servers...
#1
Ok I want to run more then one linux source server. Do I have to make another hlds directory with EVERYTHING in it? Is there a way I can use the smae directory somehow? I would hate to have to use a gig or more for every server I have since I have limited HD space. I will if I must but I wanted to ask before I did.

Although I don't have any experience with this, it should be possible to use the same main folder, but you do have to create another cstrike/hl2 folder. They are also pretty big in filesize (300MB-500MB) but it's a lot less then a full, complete 'main' directory.
May the Source be with you...

Ok, I run multiple servers on my box. What I would reccomend is having seperate directories (/$HLDS1/cstrike; /$HLDS2/cstrike). Update one, then copy files over to the other, and use symbolic links for things like materials, maps, and models; and the hl2/ directory.

Also, assuming you are using the same ip for both servers, ensure that you specify the port on the command line for both servers.

Yes you can run more than 1 server per folder.
You can set the hostport, motd.txt and server config in commandline.

I'm interested in running a dedicated server, but I have hardware limitations. What CPU do you use? What about your bandwidth?

You can run everything from a single install folder. Just specifiy alternate configs and log file locations. Use these cvars:

servercfgfile <filename>
mapcyclefile <filename>
motdfile <filename>
ip <ip address>
port <port number>
sv_logsdir <folder>
