perm ban. it bans but they can rejoin right away. help please

Yeah so i ban someone at any time 5 min or anything and it says kicked and banned but wtf? they rejoin right away, so i had another admin do it to me and i rejoined with no problem. So please someone help thanks

I'm having the exact same problem on all my servers. The bans are being added to the banned_user.cfg and banned_ip.cfg files, but the banned player(s) are immediately able to rejoin the servers. I'm quickly beginning to see that there are a number of people with this problem. I've found references to it on at least half a dozen different forums in the last 10 minutes.

make sure there is
exec banned_user.cfg
exec banned_ip.cfg
in your server.cfg

These are the last four lines of my server.cfg:

exec banned_user.cfg
exec banned_ip.cfg
writeid
writeip

The funny thing is that the ban information is showing up in the appropriate files, so the permissions have to be correct, but when a player is perma-banned, they can come right back into the server. I can provide any level of detail you might need to help figure this out.
