Maps Cycle not working - hl2dm server without Mani
#1
Hi Guys, I'm a noob to the Source DS game and having problems with my HL2DM DS Setup.

I've managed to get the server up (windows 2003) and running successfully, but my maps aren't cycling.

*For my DS build I pretty much followed the instructions in the url below, obviously substituting the CS references for HL2MP .(http://planethalflife.gamespy.com/View.php?view=HL2Guides.Detail&id=4&game=3#installation)

My command line is:
C:\SourceDS\srcds.exe -console -game hl2mp -tickrate 33 +map dm_lockdown

I have a mapcycle.txt file in the C:\SourceDS\HL2MP folder listing the map filenames (no extensions). One map name per line.

When the timelimit or fraglimit is reached, the server 'changes maps' but just loads the same map over and over (ie dm_lockdown specified in command line).

my server.cfg file has defined the mapcyclefile mapcycle.txt

I have a maplist file somewhere too, just can't remember where off the top of my head.

I can change maps using the rcon command from the console, but I don't want to have to change the maps manually :(

Does a vanilla installation support map cycles? or do I need a plugin?

I've tried installing Mani's plugin but none of the commands were recognised (showed errors when starting srcds command not found or something). I was thinking of trying Metamod tonight instead to see if that helped.

Any help appreciated :D
Cheers,

When you manually change the map to something else, when it changes map automatically, what map does it go to?
As for the Mani problem...you havent installed it correctly.

Thanks for your reply Smile

The loading/changing maps popup appears and it loads dm_lockdown over and over again.

I read in another thread that TF2 required each map to be listed twice in mapcycle.txt to work. I tried that for my hl2dm server but no luck.

I was using mani v1.1, but removed and managed to get v1.2beta installed and working instead.
I haven't configured map rotations using mani yet, but I presume that the map rotation should be working in the base DS installation anyway.

Does the mani mapcycle work independently of the SourceDS mapcycle?

I tried getting help from the steam SRCDS group last night but no-one was around.
I'll be trying to get mani mapcycle working tonight (GMT+10) so if anyone's around then who could help that'd be fantastic Big Grin

OK LISTMAP from the console shows:
Maps in cycle:-
--------------
dm_runoff -> CURRENT MAP BEING PLAYED

Maps not in cycle but are on server:-
------------------------------------
dmbelg_subway_b1
dm_911_paintball_v2
dm_adams_b29
...(more listed but irrelevant for the minute).

My mapcycle.txt file is in ../HL2MP/CFG
My maplist.txt file is in ../HL2MP
