SRCDS Steam group


sh: uncompress: command not found? Please help.

ok guys im about to go insane, every time i copy/paste that first code box into the gnome terminal it ask me if I agree and I say yes. then it askes again and I say yes. then it spits out that crap "sh: uncompress: command not found" .

I am very new to linux but managed to install it so here i am. any help is appreciated. My system runs Fedora Core 3 with Kernal 2.6

either:
yum install uncompress

or

ln -s /bin/gunzip /bin/ncompress

not working, "i think" uncompress is installed. if its any info gunzip is in the bin folder. i did the link and tried the ./hldsupdatetool.bin again and still same problem. do i have to be place special? (ex. cd /)?

if uncompress was installed you wouldn't have that issue Toungue
hmm, try ln -s /bin/gunzip /usr/bin/ncompress

ok i got it to work, btw ncompress was installed from the get go ( DOH *boot fall from the sky and hits me*) i did it by doing that link that you told me todo and then typing somethign like

chmod +x ./hldsupdatetool.bin&& ./hldsupdatetool.bin

something like that i dont remember just cause i copied and pasted of one of the old posts in this board.

I am having the same problem. I tried installing uncompress and set up the links, neither of which fixed it.
As to the previous post, I saw that on another website it is:

% chmod +x hldsupdatetool.bin && ./hldsupdatetool.bin
(and as you would expect -- that didn't work for me).
I am running Fedora Core 4 (if that makes a difference). This is bugging me like crazy, I worked for hours trying to get around other library issues I've been having; I get those solved, and I hit another wall.
