Steam & CS Source Decicated firewall ports
#1
Hi all,

I am a newb at setting up CS Servers and there is a minefield of information out there. I have followed the tutorial and can sucessfully set of a CS:Source server now.

The trouble I have is finding the exact ports UDP & TCP and what directions they need.

I have moved my server to our comany's DC as they are letting me use their bandwidth, but the firewall policies are very stringent.

My question is:

What ports does Steam need to work? (Incoming or Outgoing)
What ports other than TCP&UDP 27015 does CS:Source need to run. (Incoming or Outgoing)

What do clients need enabled to be able to connect and admin the server.

many Thanks

Goofy666 Wrote:[UDP] 1200 (used for Steam's Friends service)
[UDP] 27000 to 27015 (so that means all ports in between too)
[TCP] 27030 to 27039 (idem)
=> these are all Steam related ports

[UDP] 27015 and 27020 (default DS port, also used for HLTV)
[TCP] 27015 (you want to forward this for RCON access)
=> these ports are used by the dedicated server itself

These are the ports I have opened, it works perfectly in my case.

So let me understand the difference between rcon on hlds and srcds.
hlds rcon works via udp? srcds via tcp? Thanks in advance.

I don't see another option, if the hlds works through UDP then they're just using different protocols. I could be wrong, but since that port configuration works perfectly here I don't think there is much of a problem with it.
