./srcds_run: line 344 - server crash when start
#1
Hello,
I've installed srcds on my Linux Debian.

I've tried to run my srcds with command:
./srcds_run -console -game cstrike +map de_dust -maxplayers 16 -autoupdate

Got message:
Auto detecting CPU
Using AMD Optimised binary.
Server will auto-restart if there is a crash.
Updating server using Steam.
Checking bootstrapper version ...

./srcds_run: line 344: 2254 BĹÄdna instrukcja $HL_CMD
Add "-debug" to the ./srcds_run command line to generate a debug.log to help with solving this problem

BĹÄdna instrukcja (Polish) - Wrong Instruction (English) or Wrong Parameter (English)

Why I can start server?

EDIT:
BĹÄdna instrukcja (Polish) - Its Illegal instruction (English).
I've found that srcds needs SSE instruction support on our CPU?
I have Athlon 500MHz Slot A.

Is there no other way to run it?

Nope - you can try on windows, but i doubt that'll get you much further.

Tried to run win32 srcds on Windows, it works, but shitty Windows waste my resources. Got only 224MB ram.
Hmm, gonna change my server for Celeron 420 1.6GHz (80zł) + 1GB DDR2 533MHz (50zł).
Celeron 420 is based on C2D, so I think that now all should be ok.

I heard about SSE emulator, but I think that it wastes resources too, yep?

Aye, especially with only 224MB RAM. Plus, i don't think you would get much out of a 500MHz CPU anyway (all depends what you want it to do really).

Dont get the celeron Shezzy. Celeron is horrible to run srcds with.

Already bought.
This Celeron is better than many P4 Spartanfrog. Its not Net-Burst. Its C2D Wink.
Here look at test:
http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/cpu/intel-celeron-420-440-page1.html

Celeron 1.6GHz is better than PIV 2.8GHz on Apache Wink.
Mine celeron will be little clocked, beacuse of FSB Strap mode.
Now there is 200x8, it will be clocked to 266x8 = 2130Mhz Wink.
2130Mhz its much more than Celeron 440 (200x10) which is faster than PD 2.66GHz.

Big plus its that he only need 10W when Idle and 25-30W when stressed Wink.

Conclusion:
Dont make mistake with saying that Celeron is bad till Celeron on Conroe-L core is on market.
Celerons D and other shit based on P4 Architecture is ... the worst CPU ever

No you misunderstood me. SRCDS hates celeron. The processor may be better then P4 but srcds will run worse on it then P4. Celeron could be better then P4, i could give a rats ass Toungue, just with SRCDS and SRCDS only, the celeron is worse. I didnt make a mistake.

Spartanfrog If you tested it, so I think you should be right Wink.
Then sorry for saying that you have made mistake, but many people dont know potenial of this Celeron, they all think that is next shit.

hobo I suppose that is your processor problem.
What processor have you got?

amd athlon

What Athlon?
Tell me frequency and core and series.

There was many Athlons, like this on Slot A Argon and s.462 Palomino, Thoroughbred, Barton, A64s Clawhammer, Manchester...
Which one you have?

Shezzy I dont know much about intel, I love amd, the little i know is about xeon lol. Anything I know about celerons is from Drocona who is top dog here and i think may know everything lol. I did think celeron was shit till you told me about it though so thanks. Smile

Your CPU does not support SSE instructions.
Athlons with Palomino core (3D Now Proffesional) and higher are only supporting SSE.
Palominos starts they career till:
Athlon XP 1500+ 1333 MHz

Your Athlon is propably based on Thunderbird core, so sorry.

@Spartanfrog
Celerons were just budget processors. They had 50%, even 25% cache of their father Pentium.
Celeron based on P3 architecture was quite OK (C2D is based on P3). Later Intel started their PIV series, Net-Burst techology. It were series of big mistakes. These processors got high clocks, high TDP, high price, but where worst than opposition (AMD). AMD was better than Intel with their Athlon XP's, Athlon 64 for desktop and server computers (Opteron), but Intel still was shown as professional company.

Intel started they C2D career on Desktop computer and they won. Their processors were faster than AMD (clock by clock) and they were Overclockin capable. C2D were still expensive so Intel made some budget version. Like 2 cores E21xx series with 50% of cache first 6600 CPU.
Later he made a really cheap, but good processors which were called mistakely Celerons. It have 1 core and 50% cache (per core) of real C2D. Its not based on P4.

I like AMD as friendly company.
Intel stays with their over-advertised logo and agreesive anti-AMD tactic.

...I am normal user and I dont buy what I like, but what is better and cheaper for me.

My first computer was AMD K5-150MHz, later got Duron 850MHz, Duron 1400MHz, Athlon XP. (All AMD's)
Now I have E2160 Intel on my Desktop.
Amd Athlon XP on 2nd desktop
Athlon Argon on test-server.
... and now trying to replace Argon with Celeron.
We'll see Wink.

Sorry for little OT.
