I have been trying to run a deticated server for awhile now. First problem is that it does not show up on the server list. Another one is I want to host it off my brothers computer and he says he wants to play sometimes and it won't let him join (Failed after 4 retrys error when joining). I had a server like this awhile ago and one day I do not know what I did but it let me join from the computer that was hosting the server and all my friends joined too. There was like 7 people on and no lag on it so I think thats fine. I have a SpeedStream Modem/Router and a Linksys WRT54G Router. The Linksys has DHCP disabled to let me host. Firewalls are all off. I have ports 27000-27050 + 1200 30000 - 33000 (Don't know if these are for this but IDK might be for another game) and I have 6000-8000 done because a friend of mine that runs 3 servers said something about these so I forwarded them. I am using the SpeedStream to forward all the ports. It does not have a DMZ function. It replys ping from another server in my house but when I hit join its IP is 0.0.0.0 and is not replying (Never been a problem before I can probelly fix that). My friends were too busy when I was writing this to try and join server but I'l post when I know if they can. Another thing I forgot it replys ping when I add to favirites on the same computer it is running from but I still can not join.
One question is it +ip ***.***.***.*** or -ip blah blah in the command line or does it not matter?
Anything that might help would be nice. Thanks!

Do you have anything else serving DHCP addresses or are all your machines running with static ip?
I would keep the dhcp on the linksys turned on and just give a reservation to your server, say 192.168.1.2 then make sure that all of the ports you need (I think just the 27000-27050, 27015 is the default) are forwarded to 192.168.1.2, then when you launch the server (Are you using the -console switch?) use +ip 192.168.1.2, or don't use +ip at all and just let it bind to all ip addresses on that machine.
I don't think that using ip 0.0.0.0 is a good idea. When you try to connect from the same computer just connect to 127.0.0.1 (localhost) or 192.168.1.2 (reserved ip).

Linksys are horrible routers for SRCDS btw and tell your brother to connect by LAN not the internet.

First post - I know what I am doing more than you. I have to have second router with no DHCP or else it won't work. --- 0.0.0.0 is not my damned fault read it again. That is waht it shows my brother when he clicks join. It shows the server info thing with ip 0.0.0.0.
Second - Yes I know (First Thing) Yea I know :/ (Second Part)
EDIT
To anyone semi smart. Would putting my First Modem/Router on no DHCP and making the second my router work? If that does work should I try it like that instead?

Ok... Let me say it again. I have a speedstream 52000 or something Modem / Router... It only has one slotly thingy so my mom got another router (the linksys). I set the linksys up as an access point and not a router so i couldn host games..
