Server consuming too much CPU & ram
#1
Hello...
I've got a server running on Centos 5 and my problem is that it's consuming too much CPU & ram so I was wondering if there is any way in which I can make it less CPU & ram consumer?

I got the same problem with 1 of 3 servers running on the same physic Xeon3050 server FC6.

the 2 is using 40% cpu when 16 players is ingame.

the problem one is using 60% with 16 players. ?
Its using 82% with 20 players... the memory isnt used more then 5% at each server.

I have checked settings and cant find a reason... its not craching, only using to much cpu, so its gets small lag..

Like it says, '-heapsize <bytes>' in the command start line for the server.

Muppet, doesnt heapsize just tell SRCDS how much RAM you have, not how much to use?

In terms of heapsize in Java, it is a fixed size limit of allocated RAM. Whenever an object/array is created which exceeds this predefined limit, it chucks out errors.

In terms of SRCDS, i've always assumed its been similar to this but obviously not as strict, i.e. spitting out errors and allowing for some leeway of going over the set limit.

I've never really used the heapsize command before, so can only speculate.

Ok Muppet. I'm pretty sure all it does is tell SRCDS how much RAM you have. It might help though.

512mb isnt much memory ...
srcds is using as much it can of cpu and mem.

I did find the problem with my xeon-server, the server set the dualcore 1.86GHz to singelcore 933MHz.
I hade do change some option in Bios so the new kernel could get right info...

You cant force srcds to use certain RAM. Not that i know of.
