1 Map Server - Lags
#1
Hi, I have 1 map server - meaning, the server is always on the same map. Now after 1 - 2 days the server is starting to have lags, like "jumping" and "shaking of the characters". What I am asking: Is there any way to prevent these lags from the server? Because I am running another server but that is changing maps and no lags appear there (and it has the same config...)? thanks for the helpers...

What type of lag is it? Like I meen does the CPU usage jump or the latency jump?

The latency is stable.... what I mean that there are lags in the server no matter about how much latency people have, or how many people there are in the server. There are "shakes" over players, and you don't see "smoothly"...
The CPU usage is stable and low...
And if I restart the server (with the 'quit' command), so when it comes back - no lags anymore.... But as time goes by, the lags come back..

Personally I recommend rebooting the server everyday otherwise the memory usage can creep up. The server does get laggy if this is not done.

Yeah, restart the entire server. Not just the game server, the ENTIRE server. I do it every day about 3:00 AM because barely anyone is on.

So that is the only suggestion? No other options?

I wouldn't say this is necessary. Had game servers with uptime of months before with no problem - game server restarts work just fine. Just depends on how your memory is being used!

There's a few scripts in this thread for restarts.
