looking at setting up a local dedicated [team fortress 2], but due to aspects of the local network it would also need to be able to somehow forward any steam request. sorry but i have no idea how steam works of if this is even possible, but i would like to be able to get the local clients to have their steam validation sent through the machine that has the dedicated on it. can anyone tell me if this is even possible in theory, i am quite capable at setting up networks just never played with anything that needs a steam validate so i was hoping that i could just forward the requests similar to a local DNS or use the server it's self.

I assume you want to use the same steam account for many computers?
I would say set steam for away mode, that might work.
Also, do you want the server only for the lan? or also the internet?

the server will only be accessesed locally, people can use their own steam accounts, i was just hoping that if i couldn't get the steam auth requests to be forwarded by the server there was some other way that they could be passed through the one computer, so many steam accounts from many computers, forwarded by one computer. i have not looked at the away stetting as i said i know nothing about how steam works, other than it annoys me every time i want to play a game. the local network is only set up once a month for a day so i need to find the time to test it before hand. i thought that you would need a seperate account for each computer, though i could see that they would all be seen to have the same ip so the same key and certificate could work but i doubt that very much is does not seem like something that valve would over look
