help - Joining own server..
#1
I can make my own server using the Programe in steam for dedicated servers on TF2, all my friends can join it and theres no problem.

but i cant join it my self, i get an error message saying.. *reloads it to remeber what it said*

"couldn't allocate any server IP port"

i am not the best with pc's so tbh i dont really know what this means, i was woundering if any one could help me a bit and help me find out how to join my own servers that i make (if at all posible).

thanks in advance!

That error happens when the port is already in use. However, SRCDS should allocate the next available port automatically.

What is your startup command line when running the server?

to start up the server, i open steam then go to tools, then open the Team fortress 2 dedicated server tool, then add a Recon password and run the server. if i change the port there at the same screen as the recon place the server gives me a diffrent error message when i try to join, that it cant find a port for hltv somthing. Sad

I'm not so sure the "GUI" method you are trying works.

I read somewhere the server has to be on it's own steam ID,
but I could not get it to work no matter what, when trying your method

I got my TF2 server going following the directions in the Tutorials section of this forum. (ahem)
