got this error today, was wondering if anyone has had this problem before and knows how to resolve

Is this when you update? if so the best thing I can suggest is delete ~/.steam and try again

I tried that already, didn't work. Also tried deleting InstallRecord.blob.

try deleting steam binary and get it again.

also, try looking for other blob files. not sure if there is more or not

maybe "ClientRegistry.blob"

ClientRegistry.blob is not there. Also deleted the steam binary. Still same problem though.
Right now I feel like wiping the whole HD clean and installing RHEL 4 instead of WBEL 3.

ok, found out that my RAM was bad. Replaced RAM then I installed RHEL 4 (I wanted to change to RHEL 4 anyways), and now no more of that craptastic problem
