TF2 Server install
#1
Hey all, i recently have been trying to put up my own dedicated Team Fortress 2 server.. with little luck however. I have worked with CSS servers so i am familiar with installing them, however when i install the TF2 files and i try to start the server either by clicking the srcds.exe located in my d:\tf folder or by using the console i get the error "The procedure entry piont ThreadWaitForObjects could not be located in the dynamic link library tier0.dll" followed by this error "Failed to load the launcher DLL: The specified procedure could not be found". I have been reading on the steam fourms and here, but i cannot seem to find a fix for this, it also seems as if its downloading the files twice, once in a folder called "orangebox" and once in the main folder.

Thx

try adding -verify_all to the command line to have it double check that it downloaded the files correctly.

Ok, i just used that command at the end i got no sort of error or anything like that. It just says like HLDS installation up to date.

it seems like it is downloading the wrong folders.

What folder is srcds.exe in within your download.
It should be in tf\orangebox.

When I run srcds.exe for TF2 my command files always change directory to the dir that srcds.exe lives in.
On the files...
It took me two days when TF2 came out to get a valid setup due to timeouts from the steam delivery servers. By now that should not be a problem but I would clear the target dir and try again as the Install Record.blob file might be out of sync or you have a corrupted file in your download.

for me it puts the srcds.exe directly in the install dir which for me is
D:\tf2

Here is my hldsupdatetool command line:
hldsupdatetool -command update -game tf -dir D:\Data\Admin\SteamServer\Servers\tf

Here is the path for srcds.exe:
D:\Data\Admin\SteamServer\Servers\tf\orangebox

Time to refresh your download. Smile
Best to start with clean directory.

I don't think there's anything wrong with your PC. It really sounds to me like files are missing or corrupt. I would try deleting all your TF server files and download Muppet's RAR of the files and try that. Also, you shouldn't have to move any files. SRCDS.exe should be in the orangebox folder.

By the way, I don't think the gui version is working, but it should work with srcds -console -game tf
