"Couldn't allocate dedicated server UDP port"
#1
I have tried everything I can think of, Ive forwarded all ports in the range 27000 - 27050 (and 1200 for steamfriends just to be sure!).

Im using a Linksys WRT300N Router, and vista.

Ive double checked all my firewalls for any problems.

Using my internal IP, with sv_lan set to 0, there is no "adding master server.." type stuff, just makes a lan server (no heartbeat etc etc).

Using my external IP, I get the error in the topic name.

My head is rattled trying to figure out what Im doing wrong. I'm using a static ip of 192.168.1.20.

More then likely Ive either forgotten something obvious or Im after doing something plain retarded I didnt even spot, who knows.

I don't think you should use your external ip to bind the game server to, but yoru internal addy. If you only have one ip assigned to the game server, you shouldn't even have to bother with -ip on the command line. Aslong as you have sv_lan set to 0 others should be able to access it. What is the command line you are using? Do you have +map "mapname" somewhere?

Masher is dead on, you can not bind an external ip to the game server. Take that out and you shouldn't have a problem. Unless your pc runs multiple ip's, in that case you would have to specify the correct lan ip.

I have the exact same problem. With the ip call in the dos commmand i get the error and with it i only get a lan based server. I have sv_lan set to 0 in th server.cfg file but still no luck. I have tried putting my lan ip in the ip command, no dice there either. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Don't include the +ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx command and you should be fine.

but if you keep getting the error type ipconfig /all in cmd and find out your ip.. then use the +ip command when you run srcds. Make sure your firewall lets the ports open and your router has them forwarded.

For you it will show up in the LAN tab, as it's on your LAN. Aslong as you are forwarding your ports and have holes punched through the firewall, users on the internet should be able to connect just fine.

I don't know about with vista/your setup but I always have to set the DNS server addresses when I use a static IP...I could be wrong, but just my two cents.

But isn't it a penny for my thoughts?

Someone is making a penny...

That use to happen to me. All you need to do is close your STEAM!! then start your server then start steam after.
