Thanks for your help guys. I'll stick it out and see if the next update helps, then think about maybe reinstalling srcds or the hard drive, if I can persuade the owner

sorry but i but i had to ask. why are you running fc 4. its an old release
and i think its not the best for the job.
I love fedora its great distro.nice gui .

I'm running FC4 because that's what's on the machine. It's not mine to mess around with, and the owner is a busy man.
