Steam Source Configure Tab Empty

Hi, Im new to the forums here but I hope you can help me all the same.

Ive recently returned to HL2 DM after a year or two.

Ive got, what was, a respectable PC .... P4 3.0Ghz, 2 Gb RAM, 256Mb 6800 GT Gfx Card and a 2Mb Broadband Connection. Not sure what the upload/download is though.

Anyway. I installed all the software from steam through their interface and I can host a game "server" easily, for me and a mate to play on.

My problem is that on the server window the Configure Tab is empty.Under the Variable and Value Headings there is no text as appears in tutorials ive seen elsewhere. The Edit button is therefore greyed out ! So i cant modify gravity, map rotation, frag limit or anything. Now ive been advised in the past and from reading other forums that I need to create a server.cfg file and place it in the relevant folder for HL2DM but when I do this , the next time I host my game server it does not appear on the main server list like it did before.

Be aware that im launching my server from the Steam Source Dedicated Server icon on my desktop. I have only 1 PC however and it seems to allow me to host the server and join it without any fuss so I guess it can work as a non dedicated server as well.

CAN ANYONE ADVISE ME ON THIS ? Im new and just want to tweek my server a little bit.

COME ON FOLKS I NEED HELP HERE !!! I WANT TO GET THIS SORTED !!! I BEEN WAITHING ALL DAY FOR SOME ADVICE !!!!

I have had this issue before. I dont know what causes it to be honest, but I know how to fix it. Create a server.cfg in the cfg folder. Set your cvars their. After your done setting your cvars. close and save. right click and go to properties and set it to read only. Make sure you apply the changes.
