No such file or directory

I can't seem to figure out whats going wrong here:

Code:

MMSVR:/home/mit/srcds_l# chmod +x ./hldsupdatetool.bin
MMSVR:/home/mit/srcds_l# ls -l
-rwxr-xr-x 1 mit mit 3513408 2005-09-01 23:57 hldsupdatetool.bin
MMSVR:/home/mit/srcds_l# ./hldsupdatetool.bin
bash: ./hldsupdatetool.bin: No such file or directory

I am running Debian, I don't know what other information anyone will need to help out but ask and I will give.

The file is there and as far as I know it has permission to run.

Try to delete all .blod files in the same directory and execute the command line again.

No .blod files there. All thats supposed to do is create a file called "steam"

I am starting to wonder if this forum is dead. If so it really sucks cause this would have been a great resource. Guess it will soon be time to move on.

this might be a stupid one but you don't chmod +x to ./hldsupdatetool.bin, you chmod +x hldsupdatetool.bin, then you ./hldsupdatetoolbin

I tried both ./hldsupdatetool.bin and just hldsupdatetool.bin using chmod. I also started Gnome and changed the permissions that way. I posted this post on the Debian forums and it seems where I did a minimal install of Debian that I might not have a certain package thats required to run this (or steam).

Anyone know what packages that are required to run this?

I've gotten that message before with a distro (don't remember which). I was logged on as root and ended up having to run it as a normal user to get it working. Don't know why. Might help...

I have tried running it as root and as a normal user. I also tried sh hldsupdatetool.bin (and alternatives) without any luck. :S

This is really bugging me, I normally figure these things out fairly quick. Looks like I have a very unique problem. I might try reinstalling Debian.

no: ./ using chmod

Maybe your OS is having trouble reading the .bin file? I know some other OS's get compression errors when reading the .bin file that relates to ln -s or some type of command, maybe it has something to do with that, but it is creating a unique error for debian, or yourself because you are missing that package.

Are you running 32 or 64 bit? Had the same problem here on Ubuntu-64. Solved by installing lib32gcc1, might be worth a shot.
