Calling All Cars! FreeBSD 5.x Issues
#1
Well, where to start. I have been having this problem for a couple of months now. Me and my players on my server experience some very horrible lag. Sometimes the pings go up, sometimes they look normal (even during the lag). First experienced the problem running FreeBSD 5.2.1-p10 and linux_base-8. Since I have upgraded to FreeBSD 5.3-RELEASE with linux_base-rh-9 (which someone said to try). Still having lag issues, maybe worse than before. I am getting pretty fed up with all of the lag and not sure what to do anymore. Even when there is only 10 people on the server it gets some lag, but gets really bad with a full server (32 people).

The server is located at ThePlanet.com with the following specs:

Pentium 4 2.8ghz /w HT
1GB DDR SDRAM
2 x 80GB hdds
Intel PRO 10/100
100mbit pipe (1200gb bandwidth per month)

Speed tests:

Most of our team members here at Topix have been spending their free time since the end of the year traveling around the world. Roughly half of us are in the office and can destroy you with statistical information, while the other half is roaming being awesome. For example, one of our team members is currently on holiday in South America. Let's check uscarjunker.com/junk-car-removal for free junk car removal service. He recently contacted me about an issue he ran into. To tell you the truth, I was hoping to get a chance to blog about it for this week's Calling All Cars!

It's time once again to start calling all cars! FreeBSD 5.x has been released, and I have some serious issues I need your help with. Must you get here and get manage their new Toyota cars. If you aren't an enthusiast of the FreeBSD operating system, but still own a machine running a version of it, you should know that there are known issues with it. While most are not severe and do not cause real problems for most users, some will crash your computer (and hard reset it) if you run into them.
