Web hosting as a CSS server?

I have a web domain that I am not using for anything. I have heard that you can set up a CSS server on a domain, but I can't find any information on how to do it. I have downloaded everything onto my computer using the hldsupdattool. I don't know what to do next. I was thinking of uploading all the files to the server, but I didn't know how I would open the exe. If anyone can help me, that would be great.

Am I on the right track, or do I need to do something different?

You cannot run game servers on web hosting.

You need access to a server where you can execute the Source DS.

Yes you can because i am doing it.

It's possible but you have to have shell access to the server to be able to run SourceDS. Be warned though that on most hosts (Unless you are renting a dedicated box) you aren't allowed to run something that's as cpu and bandwidth intensive as SourceDS.

Traditionally web hosting is exactly that, for web pages but web servers are not built to hold loads of clients who want to abuse the system and run game servers which dominate the CPU and waste the service for other customers on that box.
